* On Wednesday, 4/11/07, there was an attempted home break-in/ burglary on Pinerock. This occurred in the afternoon.

* The perpetrator was a male of suspected African decent and had a heavy accent. He was wearing a uniform and was carrying a clipboard and a measuring "wheel".

* He came to the homeowner's front door and physically tried to break in. When confronted, the perpetrator claimed to work for HCAD and claimed that he had a right to enter the home. He briefly flashed an ID, but refused to show it beyond flashing it briefly. He threatened the home owner and said that he would have issues with his management and that he would be back in 15 minutes with back-up to force the home owner to let him into the house.

* The perpetrator however, left very quickly and never returned. He made a point to say that the building permits that were taped on the front window were what gave him the right to enter the home. He was very belligerent.
