WILCHESTER CLUB

Wilchester Club Update

In light of the Governor’s executive order beginning a phased reopening of certain businesses and activities, the following changes will be made at Wilchester Club beginning on Friday, May 1, 2020:

  • The tennis courts will reopen subject to the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) checklist for individuals and for Outdoor Sports (See below). TENNIS WILL BE PERMITTED IN GROUPS OF FOUR MAX PER COURT (THERE MUST BE A MEMBER PRESENT AND PLAYING TO RESERVE THE COURT)

  • The playground facilities are open but use at your own risk.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding during these trying times. We look forward to when this pandemic has passed, and we can resume normal activities."

Thank you,

Wilchester Club Board

Please make note of the minimum recommended health protocols for all individuals engaging in outdoor sports in Texas. Thank you for your compliance.

Wilchester Club Information

The recreational amenities of Wilchester and Wilchester West have been owned by the Wilchester Club since the development of the subdivisions during the 1960s.

Three pools – a competition pool with a 1-meter diving well and a rock pool, both with water slides plus a baby pool – are located on the SE corner of the intersection of St. Mary’s and Yorkchester.

Three tennis courts and the park are located at the SE corner of the intersection of               Memorial and Wilcrest.

All home owners of record of Wilchester and Wilchester West are members of these facilities and pay for maintenance and/or any renovations via their annual homeowner's association fees.

Wilchester Club directors are elected by all homeowners, and are directly responsible to them.

Our tennis community is very active!

Wilchester women love to play tennis! We currently have three women’s teams: a Memorial League B-2 team that will play Thursday mornings; a West Houston Ladies Tennis Association (WHLTA) B-1 team that plays Wednesday mornings; and a second Memorial League A team that plays Tuesday mornings.

The Wilchester men are even more active with five men’s teams: Memorial League B-1, B-2 and B-3 that play on alternate Saturday mornings; a USTA 4.0 Doubles team that plays Thursday nights and a Monday night Houston Tennis Association 4.0 Singles team. Most Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings are reserved for men’s practice if there are no matches.

Fun mixed doubles is played on various Saturday nights September through May. These are BYOB and BYO appetizer tennis events – try one of these evenings out! This is a great way to meet your neighbors.

Do you need tennis lessons, a racquet re-strung, tennis supplies, clothes or anything tennis? Then get in touch with Rod Rico USPTA Pro 1, our Tennis Pro. He has been teaching in the Houston area for more than 15 years and can be reached at 281.531.0150 or 281.543.4117.

Everyone is welcome to try out and/or join a team – most teams can be joined year-round! Contact the tennis director for details.
